Ms. Bruce's 3rd-grade class has an unspoken policy that if a child forgets or does not have a lunch to eat, other children may choose to share an item of his or her lunch so the child will not go without a lunch. Ms. Bruce likes to remind her pupils that in doing this, one is not receiving a reward or some type of social approval. Ms. Bruce is asking her students to perform this act from motives.
