Would it be possible to have a socialist direct democracy? why or why not? no, in a socialist society only a few high-ranking members of the communist party have political power. no, a direct democracy requires a free market economy which is not socialist. yes, if everyone voted on economic decisions rather than letting markets decide them, then it could be considered a socialist direct democracy. yes, if the society was ruled by a king who made the majority of economic decisions, it could be considered a socialist direct democracy.
