Willapa Hills
What is the main idea of this passage?
The inland areas of dense evergreen forest cover the
entire region, even to the rocky shores of the Pacific
Ocean. The forested habitat, with its thick, heavily
vegetated environmental realm is home to the American
black bear, Roosevelt elk, mule deer, and mountain lions.
Other smaller animals include beaver, raccoons,
porcupine, muskrat, and northern flying squirrels.
Herbivores, omnivores, and predatory carnivores live
comfortably in the moderate climate and moist forested
environment. Plants, bushes, berries, grasses, Sitka
spruce, western hemlock, and western redcedar flourish
here. Marshes, bogs, and tidelands as well as streams,
rivers, and lakes support many species of small animals,
birds, and fish.
O A wide variety of wildlife lives in the region's forest
habitat
O This region has a long coastline on the Pacific
Ocean.
O Only a few plants and animals live in the forests of
Willapa Hills.
O The climate of Willapa Hills is moderate compared
to other regions.
