Columbus should not change its name because even though what he did to the Natives was wrong it’s still something that everyone should remember. Without Columbus exploring the Americas a lot of people wouldn’t be where they are today. Christopher Columbus did not discover America he was an immigrant to the Caribbean land. He and his men enslaved the Native inhabitants Indies and subjected them to extreme violence and brutality. Even though he did all of these things the name should not be changed because this is a reminder to the world that even the worst things can turn into a blessing. Here in America we have more freedom than what happened in the past. Columbus discovered a lot of new places but he was not the first.If it was not for him countries like Haiti, Dominican Republic, Bahamas, Central, and South America wouldn’t be where it is today. Columbus original task was to find a direct route West from Europe to Asia. Instead he found the America’s. Even though Columbus brought nothing but damage. These things happen for a reason and Columbus name should not change, this is a reminder that no matter what we made it.
