The conditions in some early workplaces were terrible.

Explanation:

They were dirty, dangerous and the workers were poorly paid. There is many examples of dangerous work places or sweatshops. Workers in thread factories were mostly young girls working because there families were poor and they had to cut there hair so it would not get sucked into the machine and rip of there scalp. They were paid little and they had to work fast and carefully to load the bobbins onto the thread machines.
