to recuperate funds to finance the growing costs of his European wars. He sold the Louisiana
Territory to the U. S.A. for the equivalent of $15 million.

1) Napoleon thought that his greatest accomplishment was his comprehensive system of laws, known as the Napoleonic
Code. In 1804, the Napoleonic Code was passed, seeking to simplify French laws into a written, and uniform legal code.
The Code promoted many Enlightenment ideas, however some freedoms and liberties were also limited by the Code
in-favor of promoting order and authority.
