For a social studies project How well is the United States upholding the principles of the Declaration of Independence?

Principle #2 in the decleration of independence does not follow up "all people have basic rights that cannot be taken away" yet that still doesn't happen there are rights that effect colored people or not so white people also people that are broke or a little poor.
