The two reasons that explain why al-Khwarizmi’s books were important to the field of mathematics are;  It helped popularize Arabic numerals and helped Muslims with fractions and decimals.

Al-Khwārizmī, fully known as Muḥammad ibn Mūsā al-Khwārizmī, was a notable Mathematician and Astronomer that introduced the concepts of algebra and Arabic numerals to the Mathematics of the Europeans.

The methods that were developed in Arabic for solving Algebra and geometry were written and translated to Latin by this mathematician.

In this way, the Europeans were able to understand their methods. Muslims would have also benefitted from the mathematical books that were written by Khwarizmi.
