The following statements are taken from the 2012 Republican and Democratic Party platforms. Determine whether the statement came from the Republican or the Democratic platform. a. Too many Americans live without hope for a better future or access to good, family-supporting jobs. Fifteen percent of our fellow citizens live in poverty, and one in five families struggle with food insecurity. Many of these families work but are unable to pay the bills. The economic crisis has hit low- income American families particularly hard, but merely restoring our country to where it was before the economic crisis is not enough. We must make ending poverty a national priority.
b. Subjecting American citizens to foreign laws is inimical to the spirit of the Constitution. It is one reason we oppose U. S. participation in the International Criminal Court. There must be no use of foreign law by U. S. courts in interpreting our Constitution and laws. Nor should foreign sources of law be used in State courts’ adjudication of criminal or civil matters.
c. Recognizing that gay rights are human rights, we have vowed to actively combat efforts by other nations that criminalize homosexual conduct or ignore abuse.
