We all live with academic disappointments … I failed to gain admittance to Bowdoin, I had to settle for a state university instead. I was disappointed but so what? Most Americans never go to university — so I was fortunate and privileged compared to them. I mean, if I cried about every major disappointment in my life, I’d need a beach towel to carry around with me to dry all my tears. It depends on the learner’s own thoughts surrounding the matric results.

Not really interested? Not affected.

Putting any of your own stock of self-evaluation into society’s expectations of you upholding a satisfactory matric result? Uh oh.

Maintaining a realistic idea of what you can accomplish with respect to matric results while bearing in mind that it is an imposed condition that reflects to you who you are in no way whatsoever, by virtue of being an imposed condition? Probably best.
