PLEASE HELP Historian David Howarth discusses what the Battle of Hastings must have sounded like.

"Since gunpowder, deafening noise has been the essence of battle; it is hard to imagine now that the Battle of Hastings was comparatively silent, with only the evil thud of weapons, the sounds of the horse' hoofs on the muddy ground, the snorts and neights, the human cries of triumph or agony, and ordinary conversation. The Normans charged into battle shouting 'God's help', Dex aie': the English official war-cries were 'God Almighty' and "Holy Cross' - an invocation of the Rood of Waltham. In more homely fashion, they shouted 'Out! Out!' as they ejected intruders from their line, pronouncing it probably with what now would be known as a north-country accent. Nobody a mile away in the English country-side would have heard the battle at all."

-David Howarth, 1066: The Year of the Conquest

How were the Normans and the English battle cries similar? What does this say about each of the two groups of people?
