The five daily prayers include: Fajr (sunrise prayer), Dhuhr (noon prayer), Asr (afternoon prayer), Maghrib (sunset prayer), and Isha (night prayer). Each prayer has a specific window of time in which it must be completed.

Muslims must pray as though they are in the presence of God, and therefore must be in a state of concentration. While moving into the upright position, Muslims recite 'God listens to the one who praises Him' and while in the standing position, 'To God belongs all praise' then is recited.

Before worshipping Allah, Muslims perform ritual washing called wudu, to prepare for prayer. Sunni Muslims wash their hands, mouth, nose, face, arms, forehead and hair, ears and feet three times - in that order. Shi'ah Muslims wash their face first, then arms and use the moisture to wipe their head and feet.
