I NEED THIS ASAP!! Scientists have found that electrostatic interactions play a role in how spiders use webs to catch
their prey. Each strand of a spider web is coated with evenly spaced drops of an electrically
charged liquid. The electrostatic attraction between the web and the spider's prey makes it
difficult for the insect to escape. This is also one of the reasons why spider webs are so difficult
to remove from your hand or other objects.
When an oppositely charged insect flies near a spider web, the web deforms as illustrated in the
figure below. In contrast, if the insect is neutral, the web does not deform.
