The following argument is missing from the Toulmin model of argument: 1) Background checks should be the norm for gun purchases in the US. 2) A New York Times Op-Ed by John Smith has this startling statistic about gun violence in Indianapolis by persons with domestic violence backgrounds. 3) John smith has written several incredible op-eds. He's very smart. 4) Some may argue John Smith lacks experience, I believe that to be untrue. He grew up with senators, lawyers and doctors as family members. 5) Maybe my argument isn't as strong as I would like but we should spend more time investigating it.
