Can some tell me a little summary about the holocaust

The Holocaust was a very dark time in history that took place from 1933-1945, it was when Adolf Hitler the leader of the nazis, issued a mass genocide and killed about 6 million jewish people. The Nazi army would then hunt down and either kill jews on the spot or send them to concentration camps where they would endure a lot of suffering and torture, most in the concentration camps died just by exposure, many by starvation. Although Hitler wanted to kill all the Jews, he was actually good friends with the pope whom was of similar religion of the Jews. Summary would be it was a rather depressing time and a very dark time in history for Germany. I hope this is good enough. :)
