Why do people put thier parents in nursing homes when they could of took care of them?

Some people put their parents in a nursing home because they feel as if they would be a bother, since the children will be grown up, they'd want to be independent and raise their own kids and have a family; they sort of forget the one that they had before. Of course, that are only some "kids", not all.
