What would happen if banking didn't exist? Please answer!

the federal reserve is money that the government holds back to fund something usually for a major disaster or just for the army. if banking didn't exist then people would still bury there money in a jar by a large tree to find it later and that's what they did when the bank robberies happened in the 18th century.

Explanation:

If there are no banks, the one with muscle power would own the largest chunk of money. Apart from this, people would shift to barter system and no one would trust other's intension to pay for goods and services. Printed money would loose its charm and soon be replaced by coins of copper, brass, silver and gold.
