At the beginning of the school year, a Muslim student was suspended by the principal for violating the dress code after she repeatedly refused to take off her hijab (headscarf). The dress code prohibited wearing hats, caps, bandanas, hoods, and other head coverings in school buildings during the school day. The student explained that removing her
