The two basic types of personality assessments include projective tests and self-report inventories. Clinicians have long argued regarding which type of test is more appropriate for assessing personality. Some believe due to the highly subjective nature of projective tests, they tend to lack both validity and reliability. Others believe projective tests can obtain qualitative information such as motivations, beliefs, attitudes and values that are not easily obtained by utilizing self-reports. Utilizing two well known types of projective tests, discuss why they are considered subjective and how this can affect validity and reliability. What are the pros and cons of projective tests and self-reports and discuss your views on which is a more effective method of assessing personality. See attached article (in Resources) for additional information. Provide present research that supports your view from at least two peer reviewed articles and cite your sources using APA format.
