How is a Sociologist Different than Other Scientists? Have you ever thought about the fact that sociologists are actually scientists? They are! They are social scientists. Explain how a social scientist differs from a scientist in another field. Sociologists are interested in how social relationships influence people’s attitudes and behavior. Having read about the Scientific Method, we know that there is bias in almost all research we conduct. Perhaps you had to decide which college to attend, or whether to end a romantic relationship. In making this decision, did you consult with friends and family, or consider how your decision would impact the important people in your life? Think about the last serious decision you made where you employed the use of the Scientific Method. Was there Bias? Can you think of other ways that social relationships had a bearing on your decision?
