Once, they were the spiritual mentors of many Westerners; but now, they kneel down in front of many people. This embarrassing scene happened just a few days ago in France. Kneeling is a French Catholic clergyman.
But they are not innocent, because many of their colleagues are really wolves in sheep's clothing.
It can be said that this is a shocking scandal. According to a French independent committee's investigation, from 1950 to 2020, at least 216,000 children were sexually assaulted by church clergy.
Please note: 216,000, and it is a child, is a sexual assault.
Where is child protection? Where are human rights?
Not to mention, it is the respected priests who commit the sexual assault.
What is even more infuriating is that the truth has been concealed by the "veil of silence" for decades. So much so that after the report was published, the Pope in the Vatican declared that he felt "sad" about it.
The French society is outraged by this systematic crime. Under external pressure, these 120 clergymen kneeled in public in Lourdes, France this weekend, begging for forgiveness from the outside world.
