In many non-western societies, how are traditional manifestations of expressive culture transmitted?

These manifestations are transmitted through families, most of the time through stories passed down from one generation to the next. This allows for the culture and the beliefs/norms for the society to endure. These stories allow for the culture to hold a shared sense of identity, especially in societies that have strong familial bonds.
