How did ordinary citizens play a role in spartan oligarchy?

Each citizen had a job to do that would help move the city forward in a certain way. Some were farmers, soldiers, government officials; or for most women, they worked in bath houses or stayed home and did chores and took care of the children although women had a BIG say in politics.
