Henry Hudson, set sail for the New World by and by in 1610. When he and his group achieved Canada, they cruised north to avoid the French settlements and exchanging posts. Hudson entered a strait which is today named for him.This course gave him access to an incredible, far reaching inland cove which would likewise be named for the adventurer.  

While Hudson had neglected to locate the Northwest Passage, his investigations demonstrated profitable to both the English and the Dutch in later years.
