How should legislators choose to address the consequences on the war on drugs ?

The United Kingdom maintains a very classification system similar to the America's scheduling system, and criminal penalties set based on a drug's classification. For example, selling class A substances can get someone up to life in prison, while class B sentences are limited to a maximum of 14 years. 

Legislators should address the consequences on the war on drugs by taking action and demolish them
