Mi amigo mexicano: los detalles del proyecto You've spent a great deal of time in this chapter reading about Mexican culture and practicing many new verbs. Now, it's your turn!

You'll create a friend from Mexico. If you have a friend from Mexico, you can write about that person, or you can create somebody completely fictional and use what you covered in this unit.

Use the project sample at the beginning of the lesson as a guide and include the information below.

WHAT TO INCLUDE:

Description of the person:
an introduction of the person
where the person is from (state, town, etc. in Mexico)
a physical description of the person
a description of the person's personality
Description of the culture:
at least one custom the person celebrates that has to do with his or her culture
at least one cultural food the person likes to eat
the person's favorite place to visit in México and why
the student's opinion of an item or event, whether they liked or disliked it, and whether it's similar to something in their life
Use of Spanish in the writing:
adjectives match the nouns they modify
verb endings match their subjects
irregular verbs are used and spelled correctly
overall communication is clear and knowledge acquired from program was clearly applied
Pictures to include:
your friend
the food, or something of relevance to it
something pertaining to a custom.
a location in Mexico
Te toca a ti.
It's time for you to get started! Your teacher will give you the date that the project is due. It's best to follow the simple steps below to work through it:

Begin your project. Find a picture you'd like to use to represent the appearance of your friend. If you have a talent for art, you may create your own picture.
Jot down the adjectives and descriptions you want to use to talk about this person. Make sure the adjectives have the correct ending for the gender of the person.
Brainstorm. Review the information you learned about Mexico in this unit and remember that there are plenty of places and traditions from Mexico that weren't included. Mexico is a large and diverse country. You can also use information about Mexico that wasn't part of this unit.
Choose at least one custom, food, and location in Mexico that you want like to include and find a picture for each. Write a couple of basic sentences in Spanish about them. Remember: write only the Spanish you've learned because you'll be graded on your use of the language.
Gather your pictures and information and organize them on note cards, in an outline, or graphic organizer to keep track of what you're doing.
Create a rough draft of what you're writing about in your project.
Make sure that your verbs are conjugated correctly and that the irregular verbs have the correct spelling.
Reread the information. Check your grammar, punctuation, and content.
Decide how you want to arrange your information. You may keep it in essay form or even make a poster. If your teacher doesn't have specific requirements, you may want to make a PowerPoint slideshow or a scrapbook.
Create your final project. Have fun!
