Friends, I  went to the biggest and most spectacular party in Valencia: the Fallas. It was a commemoration of San Jose. Each neighborhood had its own torch with several ninots: a very large construction, basically made of paper. Each neighborhood had its own "normal" torch and another, smaller one, of children. The children's torches were of the same theme as the originals - so there was a harmony in the neighborhood. During the Fallas, people all over Spain, and from other countries too, came to Valencia to admire the torches of each neighborhood, choose their favorites and participate in the festivities that lasted until March 19. Every day and especially every night there were several events. The falleros and falleras dressed in their spectacular suits and dresses (and very expensive, as I have been told) and took to the streets. At night, the falleros and falleras organized events, such as concerts or parties to dance, right next to their torch. Those events were called "verbenas".
