Regrettably, this is a fashionable practice in my country, Venezuela even though it is not polite to attend a dinner invitation 15 minutes late because time is valuable. However, in U.S people are more strict with The time than Venezuelan people because in South American countries people often arrives too late when meeting and Venezuela  is no exception. So even though it is not fashionable to attend a dinner invitation 15 minutes late, it is a common bad habit anyway.
