Formal assessment is commonly found in the form of examinations, where a student will be tested on their knowledge and understanding of a subject where one will achieve a score out of the given test framework. An annual study plan is one which the student and teacher agree to a working course of study to gradually develop the knowledge and understanding of a given subject over the course of a year.
