All animals have five sensory organs which are used for sight, smell, taste , hearing, and touch. These are the part of the body which help us to taste, hear, feel and touch the thing around us. These are eye, ear, nose, tongue, skin.

All these sensory organs help to protect the body from  harsh external environment by sending immediate sensory signals to the body.

These sensory organs contain the sensory receptors that send information through sensory neurons to the appropriate places in the nervous system.

Example: For smell our nasal cavity has Olfactory receptors transfer the signal to the olfactory nerve fibers with then through the ethmoid bone passes the signal to the olfactory bulb and it is directly connected to the cerebral cortex of the brain.
