The ceremony performed when a child first takes solid food is called grihastha annaprashan upanayana

The ceremony performed when a child first takes solid food is called anna prashanam. Anna prashanam is the first grains ceremony. The first food the child eats is called prasada.  During the ceremony, the child is brought to a temple, and along with mantras and a sacred fire, food is offered to God through the fire and “made” into prasada.
