During a macroscale fractional distillation to separate cyclohexane and toluene (25 ml each), water was not running through the condenser until we reach about 15 ml of distillate. the first drop of distillate was observed at 85 centigrades. the distillation curve didn't show a clear first plateau (temperature vs volume of distillate). it looks like a simple distillation curve. we didn't obtain the first drop until 85 centigrades because of the condensator issue? why the lack of plateau (slightly steep curve) has persisted after connecting the water source. you!
