4. Consider two solutions, one formed by adding 11.68 g of sodium chloride (NaCl) to 1000 mL of water (d = 1 g / mL) and another formed by adding 36.03 g of fructose (C6H12O6) to 1000 mL of water.
a) Will the vapor pressure on the two solutions be the same at 60 oC? Calculate the expected vapor pressure for
each of the solutions (considering as an ideal solution) and explain why the differences.
b) Calculate the expected boiling temperature for these two solutions. Explain the reason for the differences.
Note: The tabulated values must be verified in the book, or in class. Do not forget that the concentration is
species in solution and there is a difference in the dissolution of ionic and non-ionic compounds.
