Sodium bicarbonate, NaHCO3, which is commonly known as baking soda requires purification for certain applications. The solution is then cooled to 0 o C to precipitate NaHCO3. The solution is then filtered to remove the solid sodium bicarbonate and leave behind any impurities that are soluble at that temperature. Considering the solubility of NaHCO3 in water decreases from 164g/mL at 60 o C to 69g/mL at 0 o C, what is the percent yield of the purification by this process?
