HELP ME!! (Situation)
The school is building a new building and you have to use scientific evidence to persuade school staff on how heat is absorbed or released from a building based on the construction material that you are using.
( Product)
Design a presentation with a construction design to illustrate the best construction material to use as insulation in the new school building. Base your investigations on evidence of thermal energy and specific heat of construction materials.
Your presentation should include the following:
1. Explain what material would be more appropriate to use as insolation based on material properties (specific heat capacity, conductivity, reflectivity, absorption etc.) .
2. Explain how the materials chosen will affect the heating and cooling of the construction.
3. What is the effect of the concentration of particles (construction material) and the heat energy released?
4. Linking weather conditions (high or low temperature) to the use and choice of different insolating materials used and ways to mitigate these effects of weather conditions.
5. Evidence that supports the release or absorbing of heat within the construction and surrounding using key words of endothermic and exothermic reaction of real-life situations (example, cooking in the house).
6. Determining whether your presentation can be considered a closed system where heat energy is transferred between the material inside and the surroundings Or an open system
