Design a plate and frame heat exchanger for the following problem:
Hot water at 0.0063 m^3/s, 82.2°C, enters a plate and frame heat exchanger and is cooled to 57.2°C. Cold water enters this same exchanger at 0.00756 m^3/s, 37.8°C. The plates are made of stainless steel (316SS) with a heat transfer area of 0.316 m^2 per plate. The plate spacing is 5.08 mm, the plate width is 381 mm, and the plate thickness is 1.016 mm.
Hint: You should use iteration method to solve this problem. Assume a value for number of plates and solve the problem to find q_c, q_h and q_by LMTD. If q_c = q_h = q_by LMTD, your assumption is good. Otherwise repeat the procedure with a new guess for number of plates.

For the closed feedwater heater below, feedwater enters state 3 at a pressure of 2000 psia and temperature of 420 °f at a rate of ix10 ibhr. the feedwat extracted steam enters state 1 at a pressure of 1000 psia and enthalpy of 1500 btu/lbm. the extracted er leaves at an enthalpy of 528.7 btu/lbm steam leaves as a saturated liquid. (16) a) determine the mass flow rate of the extraction steam used to heat the feedwater (10) b) determine the terminal temperature difference of the closed feedwater heater

True or false (explain) (110)[111] is a slip system in bcc metals . the {111} family in fcc contains 8 planes. resolved shear stress (rss) in single crystals is just related to the applied stress. critical resolved shear stress (crss) in single crystal metals is direct proportional to the number of defects in the structure

Acertain flow of air (at stp) has a velocity distribution given by v i (in ft/s). if this flow is going through a 4 ft square area in the yz-plane (centered at the origin), what is the mass flow rate (in lbm/s)?
