A static test stand is to be designed for testing a diffuser of a jet engine. The following conditions are known for the test: 50 kg/s of air enter a diffuser at a velocity of 750m/s and static pressure of 20kPa. The air leaves the diffuser at a velocity of 90 m/s and static pressure of 330kPa. The entrance area of the diffuser is 0.25 m2 and the exit area is 0.28 m^3. Required:
Determine the magnitude and direction of the strut force necessary to hold the diffuser stationary when this diffuser is operated in an atmospheric pressure of 20 kPa.
