My assignment was to -
state the title of your song or poem and the author
state the theme of the piece
explain whether this theme is explicit or implicit and why
provide an example of how the theme relates to your life
did i do good?
the song, “waving through window”, written by justin paul and benj pasek, is one of my absolute favorite songs from the musical “dear evan hansen”. the song is about a young teen, who seems to be a very isolated. the song is very explicit wording wise, but it’s still very easy too tell what’s going on. the song captivates the theme of this song is about a boy who looks to be struggling with loneliness, and seems too be trapped in a figurative window society built for him.
looking outside the window causes pain for him, due to seeing all the happy smiling faces with friends by their side, but he’s all alone. i thought this song most related to my life, considering a few things. i’m very socially awkward, i have a lot of trouble making friends since i home school, ect. this song is a really great reminder of what society can do to you if you’re not carful of who you choose to listen too.

" keyn asked. tablin looked around the dirt courtyard. he tried to peer through the shadowy arches of the flowing barrel. he even twisted in his saddle to look across the merchant's bazaar, past tents and warehouses filled with goods. "i don't know," he said. "did you leave it in your mouth? it's the only place i can think of that's big enough." keyn laughed; something got stuck in his throat half way, and he coughed for breath. "i can see you're good to go,” tablin observed as keyn struggled to clear his throat. “go get your horse yourself before i take the job and leave you to rot in the flowing barrel."
