Can somebody reword this ? the question odysseus is introduced to the audience in book 5 does the "manup to the image that has been portrayed by characters in previous books?

in book 5, the reader meets odysseus for the first
time. before this, he has only been mentioned by
other characters. based on what we have heard, we
expect him to be an intelligent, courageous, and
powerful man. telemachus describes him as strong
and heroic. penelope thinks that he is an honorable
and fair king. other characters also praise odysseus.
we assume that he is a great man. however, the
odysseus we meet in book 5 is not anything like
that. he is weak and fearful and not like he had been
described by telemachus, athena, and many other
characters.
