Consider the information and reading selections you have read about cultural diversity and socioeconomic differences. Write a one-page essay or a 16-line poem describing what constitutes your American identity. How do culture, religion, socioeconomic status, family, and background make you who you are? How do these factors make you unique? Make sure to include an introduction, a body, and a conclusion to your essay. If you choose to write a poem, try including figurative language or poetic techniques such as a rhyme scheme. To improve your essay or poem, try brainstorming, outlining, and revising drafts to your work.
