His parents do not pay much attention to him, and he is bullied at school. The way others perceive and treat him becomes a great deal in his life and sense of self. Leslie, on the other hand, does not worry much about others' opinions. More secure than Jesse, she stands firmly for what she believes in. When her classmates belittle her for not having a TV at home, for instance, she is not bothered. Being different and made fun of for it does not make her insecure.
