Line the topic sentence.
(26) Johnny looked forward to each Sunday morning worship service. Except for one high, squeaky
voice, the choir in their black flowing robes sang in such sweet harmony that Johnny's heart wanted
to leap and run. Even the smell of the lilies seemed holy and was certainly more pleasing than the
smell of some of the ladies' colognes. Johnny remembered how he had tried to make cologne from
his mother's roses. When the pastor rose and stood at the richly carved mahogany pulpit, a quiet
hush fell over the room. Johnny lovingly stroked the soft, red leather cover of his Bible. In front,
beside, and behind him he could hear the soft rustle of parchment leaves and an occasional
whisper. At times, the soft snoring of some elderly gentleman broke the solemnity of the services,
but a gentle poke from a neighbor always brought that aright. When the service ended, Johnny left
refreshed, taking with him a renewed vigor to follow God's commands.
