"You Are the Electric Boogaloo" features a letter from the author for the teen version of himself. In this letter he wishes to send a message to his past self about a very shameful occasion that he lived.

The author starts by showing what he likes about his teen version, until he comments when he went to participate in a break contest and was unable to spin on the floor because the rouoa he was wearing was not appropriate. Instead of spinning efficiently, the author injured his back, writhed in pain and was the subject of laughter in the audience.

The author shows how it demotivated and filled him with shame, besides, he spent a lot of time thinking "what if I had won", "what if a talent scout had found me?", "What if I had become famous? " among others.

The letter's author wants to show that these questions are terrible and that he shouldn't spend time thinking about it. But you must take advantage of failure as an experience and a story to tell in the future. What he must do is turn it around and think about the next steps in his career.

condemned by a deep sense of responsibility, gregor fears the reaction that his frightful aspect will incite in his family. he feels guilty for not being able to continue being useful to the beings he maintained. his own family, however, is ashamed and runs away from him, and even tyrannizes and resists him. the father, of a severe and despotic character, humiliates him and treats him with great cruelty. all his attempts to escape from the confinement to which he is subjected in his own room fail before the hostile rejection of the beings that surround him. prisoner in his lair and unable to continue playing the only function of making money he had, finally chooses, with the consent of his parents and sister, to die of starvation. with this, he is freed from a servile and unhappy existence. the family appreciates gregor while he fulfills the interests. but when he is unable to continue earning money, it becomes a problem, a shame, and family relationships begin to become tense, until coexistence becomes impossible.
