Rewrite the paragraph in an elegant way pls help it will be worth a lot of points

Once we got down, we went to go get our suitcases. We were the first ones there, so we got our luggage first. We went outside of the airport to go meet with my uncle who was picking us up. I haven’t seen him in years, so it was nice to give him a hug. My dad was the one more content because he hasn’t returned to Mexico City in over 25 years! So, he was existed to see his home and family again. After driving for about an hour and a half We went to my grandmother’s house and there we ate pambazos. pambazos are these Mexican torta with red salsa all over it and inside chorizo, beans, and potatoes it was delicious. And for the rest of the time we ate and talked until it was time for bed.
