Throughout the Lord of the Flies, there is a breakdown of civilized behavior. Explain the progression of social taboos that are broken as the boys change from British school children to violent savages. Use specific plot points from the beginning, middle, and end of the text to show the progression from breaking minor taboos to breaking real moral and ethical boundaries. Would Golding suggest this is something that should concern us? Why or why not?
