Self-esteem holds tremendous importance when it comes to making choices, building talents and finding your worth. When we trust our own abilities, we feel happier. Having respect for others is important but having self-respect is also a necessity in whichever environment you go, be it a job or a relationship. In every situation, confidence is very important. Self-esteem plays a very significant role in everyone’s life. My life is not an exception. This confidence on oneself can be gained though encouragement in any form. Appreciation is a strong way of boosting one’s self-confidence.

When I was in school, I was scared of talking in front of a large crowd. Once my class teacher encouraged me to take part in an elocution competition. Initially, I didn’t want to but my teacher supported me in many ways and persuaded me. Seeing my teacher’s confidence in me, I gave it a shot and was surprised by the reaction of the audience. Not only did I win the first prize, I was also able to overcome my fear. The principal and the teachers as well as the other students praised me for my efforts. That experience boosted my self-esteem to a very high level.
