Combining barbiturate with wine is a very bad idea, as it will slow down the nervous system and even the diaphragm leading to suffocation and death.

A barbiturate drug is usually given to treat anxiety, insomnia, epilepsy, migraine, etc with the aim of slowing down the body systems, especially the nervous system and acts as depressants of the central nervous system. This will make a person to slow down and act sluggishly with impaired coordination, slurred speech, shallow breathing, blackouts etc.

When alcohol in the form of wine is mixed with a barbiturate, the effects are doubled since both will depress the nervous system. Combining both will lead to overdosing, addiction, and could be fatal. Moreover, withdrawal symptoms for both are also very serious.  

The combined slow down may lead to very serious changes like even slowing the movement of diaphragm muscles resulting in suffocation and fatality.
