Friedrich Engels wrote the book “The Condition of the Working Class in England” in 1844. In this book, as the title says, he draws his experiences of the period he lived in Manchester. He describes how child labor horrified him, how the heavy industrialization caused environmental damage.

But some historians had criticized Engels, they used to say that he only pointed out the “bad side” of the industrial revolution and missed to point out the good side of it.
