La Malinche or Doña Marina or Malinalli or Malintzin was a Nahua woman (from the Mexican Gulf coast) who played a really important role in the Spanish conquest of the Aztec empire. La Malinche was an interpreter  advisor, confident and lover for the Spanish conquistador, Hernán Cortés. She was given as a present as a slave by the natives of Tabasco along other wowen (there were 20 women in total including her). She gave birth to Cortes's first son, Martin, who is considered one of the first mestizos (half-blooded) of Mexico.
