How have politicians clouded the issue of the cause of civil war

Most Politicians have openly recognized the Confederate history Month.

It is seen as part of the culture and heritage of the Southern States where many celebrate it.

However, most politicians, including Virginia Governor, Robert McDonnell do not dive into the details of the cause of the Civil War, especially refraining to talk about Slavery and it's impact on the Union in the 19th Century. He would rather focus on other issues that are affecting the State such as law and order situations or job creation.

However, most Professors in Southern States provide a wealth of information on how slavery did become the most important dividing factor between the North and the South.

regarding the law, the 15th amendment was specifically designed thinking in the rights of black free men.

even though ratified on february 3, 1870, the promise of the 15th amendment would not be fully applied for a long time.poll taxes and literacy tests would allow southern states disenfranchise african americans. only in 1965 the voting rights for african americans would be actually able to vote in the south.

in 1965, president johnson signed the voting rights act, which aimed to overcome legal barriers that prevented african americans from voting as it was guaranteed by the 15th amendment to the u.s. constitution.
